The inception workshop for the Assessment of Best
Practices in Terms of Building Materials was held on May 5 Tuesday at the
seminar room of the LGED Headquarters. The event was organized by the Climate
Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre (CReLIC) under the Climate Resilient
Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project (CRIMP) currently being implemented by the
Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
Md. Azharul Islam Director of CRILIC and Additional
Chief Engineer of LGED presided over the workshop. Syeda Asma Khatun Additional
Chief Engineer of LGED attended the event as the Chief Guest.
During the session the Chief Guest Syeda Asma Khatun
stated Ensuring the use of climate-resilient and high-quality construction
materials is the need of the hour for sustainable infrastructure development.
Through this initiative of LGED and CReLIC, it will be possible to disseminate
best practices for using modern and eco-friendly building materials at the
field level.
Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam Team Leader of EQMS
Consulting Limited the consultancy firm appointed for the assignment delivered
a PowerPoint presentation detailing their approach.
The workshop was attended by LGED Additional Chief
Engineers Molla Mizanur Rahman, Kazi Saiful Kabir, Md. Wahiduzzaman and Md.
Golam Mowla; Superintending Engineers Md. Hamidul Haque, Md. Anisul Wahab Khan
and Md. Akhtar Hossain.
Also present were various Project Directors, Executive
Engineers and Senior Assistant Engineers along with CRIMP-CReLIC Project
Director Md. Abdul Khaleque, CRrLIC Executive Engineers Md. Latif Hossain and
Fatema Ismat Ara, Assistant Engineer Arpan Paul and CReLIC specialist
consultants Md. Abdul Nur, Md. Shahidul Islam, Md. Sadequr Rahman Bhuiyan, Md.
Masudur Rahman and Syed Mahbub Ahsan.
