Dhaka: The Regional Team of the Green Climate Fund (GCF)
completed its official mission from June 6 to June 12. GCF is the funding
agency for the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming (CRIMP) project
and the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre (CReLIC) under the Local
Government Engineering Department (LGED).
During the mission the delegation held meetings with
relevant government ministries, divisions, agencies and the Satkhira district
administration Deputy Commissioner (DC) office. The discussions focused on: Climate
financing and investment, Potential project development, Expanding the project
pipeline, Future cooperation and collaboration.
The GCF mission was led by Ms. Dianne Jegam Regional
Manager of GCF. The other member of the team was Dr. Bapon Fakhruddin Climate
Investment Principal at GCF.
As part of the evaluation mission the team attended a
meeting organized by the Satkhira district administration DC Office on June
9–10. They also visited various project sites funded by GCF. During the field
visit the team witnessed firsthand the coastal climate adaptation activities,
livelihood development programs, disaster-resilient infrastructure and other
climate-resilient initiatives.
High-ranking officials accompanied the delegation
during the visit including: Dr. Kazi Shahahan Joint Secretary Economic
Relations Division (ERD), Md. Assadikzaman Senior Assistant Secretary ERD, Md.
Abdul Khalek Project Director, CRIMP Project, Mehmood Murshed Ul Al Amin
Executive Engineer, S K Tohidur Rahman Urban Portfolio Coordinator KfW, Jewel Mahmud Liaison Officer GCF. Other
officials from the local municipalities and LGED were also present during the
tour.
