CReLIC panelist in Urban Climate Resilience seminar

The Director of CReLIC, Gopal Krishna Debnath CReLIC, was invited to present his views and respond to questions from an audience on climate change adaptation. The Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) and the Dhaka office of the Global Center of Adaptation organized the knowledge exchange gathering on Tuesday, 31 January 2023. The context of the knowledge exchange was to present and discuss solutions for urban climate resilience. Best practices or lessons learned were presented by Mr. Arnoud Molenaar, Chief Resilience Officer, City of Rotterdam, and Mr. Verhagen, Global Lead Water and Urban. After the keynote speeches, views from the panelist and the audience were discussed. Views and perspectives were presented by Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Mr. Gopal Debnath Krishna, Additional Chief Engineer, and Director CReLIC, both Government of Bangladesh; Ms. Anna Balance, Climate Change & Environment Advisor, British High Commission, and Amit Roy, Urban Development Specialist Asian Development Bank. The program was chaired by Mohammad Fazle Reza Sumon, President of BIP, and Mehedi Ahsan, Director of the GCA Regional Office GCA and Director General of BIP.

The overall outcome of the knowledge exchange was to brief the audience on urban resilience initiatives worldwide, nature-based solutions, and pathways to foster knowledge exchange between practitioners and local stakeholders.
